1. The Ninth Plenary Editorial Board Session of China Asthma Alliance (CAA) Web
The Ninth Plenary Editorial Board Session of CAA web was held in Nanchang on June 11th, 2016, attended by more than 60 editorial board members. During the session, the 2015 annual work of the website was reviewed, and the 2016 annual work plan was discussed in depth.
2. World Asthma Day Press conference
On May 3rd, 2016, the China Asthma Alliance and the China Asthma Research Network held a press conference on "World Asthma Day 2016" in Beijing. Prof. Jiangtao Lin attended the event, introduced the work organized and completed by the China Asthma Alliance, and answered the journalist questions. More than 30 media attended the press conference.
3. The First Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei-Henan Summit Forum on Chronic Airway Disease Prevention and Treatment
The First Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei-Henan Summit Forum on Chronic Airway Disease Prevention and Treatment sponsored by the China Asthma Alliance, Chinese College of Respiratory Medicine Education, and the China Asthma Research Network was held between February 26th and 28th, 2016 in Beijing. A total of 1028 registered attendees participated in the forum.
4. The Third Summit Forum on Chronic Airway Disease Management
The Third Summit Forum on Chronic Airway Disease Management and the Education Sessions on New Advances in Difficult Disease Diagnosis and Treatment, sponsored by the Chinese College of Respiratory Medicine Education and the China Asthma Alliance, and organized by the China Asthma Research Network and the Respiratory Society of Fujian Provincial Medical Association, were held in Xiamen of Fujian Province between August 25 and 28, 2016.
To this Forum, 146 well-reputed experts and investigators in the field of respiratory medicine were invited as key-note speakers. The lectures mainly covered 112 topics, and included sessions for asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, critical respiratory medicine, pulmonary infections, rare cases, complications of chronic airway disease, nursing, integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine, respiratory intervention, cough, and influenza. A total of 1840 registered attendees participated in the forum.
5. The National Mobile Asthma Management System-E Project kicked off
The National Mobile Asthma Management System-E Project (CARN-2016-01) Kick-off Meeting was held in Xiamen on August 26th, 2016. Thirty-two centers across China joined the project. The Project aims to encourage patient self-assessment and management of the disease, regular medication, and timely attendance to medical aid. In addition, the project would also help physicians in their patient follow-up and education on asthma. In the long run, these efforts are expected to improve the prevention and control of asthma as well as the quality of life in Chinese asthma patients.
6. CARN-2015-01 and CARN-2015-02 Projects Wrap-Up by the China Asthma Research Network.
In October 2015, the China Asthma Research Network was officially established and meanwhile, two research projects were launched: "A Survey of Asthma Control and Awareness in Urban China (CARN-2015-01)" and "A Retrospective Survey of Medical Costs and Related Issues in Hospitalized Patients with Acute Asthma in Urban China (CARN-2015-02)”. The CARN-2015-01 data included 3875 patients, and the CARN-2015-02 data, 3240 patients. The Projects Wrap-Up Meeting was held in Xiamen on August 26th, 2016 attended by 30 national centers.
7. First international publication of CARN-2015-01 and CARN-2015-02 projects
On behalf of the China Asthma Research Network, Drs. Wenqiao Wang and Bin Xing from China-Japan Friendship Hospital participated in Asia Pacific Society of Respirology 2016 (APSR 2016) held at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (QSNCC) in Bangkok, Thailand on November 14th, 2016. The poster-presented findings of CARN-2015-01 and CARN-2015-02 attracted wide attention.
